Abstract
In the early stages of African Theology two streams may be identified: the 'inculturation' stream and the 'liberation' stream. This article shows my engagement with the 'liberation stream' in African Theology, specifically Black Theology. The article was the result of serious discussion and debate with my students at the Presbyterian Theological Seminary during the years 1998-2002. The article was also published in the Africa Theological Journal, vol. 26. no. 1 (2003): 75-87, the periodical published by the Theological Faculty of Makumira University in Tanzania.
