Abstract

This chapter provides an account of a monitoring system set up for an agreement aimed at sustainable water management called ‘Waterpact’ in the eastern Twente region of the Netherlands. The participants in this environmental agreement (EA) (the provincial government, two municipalities, a water board and a waterworks company) have signed a covenant aimed at sustainable water management. Their goal is to curb environmental pollution load by 95% within 50 years.
