    Abstract

During the 1970s and early 1980s the history of mentalities became en vogue in the humanities. Especially Le Roy Ladurie's 1975 'Montaillou: village occitan de 1294 à 1324' took the interest of the general public. What were the crucial insights of this micro-historical combination of narrative history and historical anthropology?
