‘From Discovery to Wellness: Bridging Fundamental Biology to Breakthroughs in Health, Ageing, and Disease Interventions’
The mission of the Mechanism of Health, Aging and Disease (MoHAD) Research Institute is to foster knowledge on the mechanisms underlying health, ageing and disease, and promote collaboration among fundamental, translational, and clinical researchers. Our long-term goal is to exploit a deeper understanding of molecular and cellular mechanisms for the development of innovative therapeutic applications aimed at preventing multiple morbidities and extending healthy longevity..
We envision a future where our research on molecular and cellular mechanisms enables discoveries and development of basic biology, targeted diagnostics, personalized treatments, and innovative preventive strategies.
MoHAD contains XX research programmes that are divided over three key research themes:
Theme 1: Mechanistic and translational aspects of initiation, diagnosis and treatment of cancer
Within this theme, research is focused around innovative diagnostics and treatments of cancer. The oncology theme is embedded within the Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC), which allows for translational links between fundamental and clinical oncology research. Research programmes involved in this theme are:
Theme 2: Cardiovascular and metabolic disease and treatment
The research activities in this theme include experimental and clinical studies to evaluate behavioural, pharmaceutical, and device therapies for cardiovascular and kidney disease. A multidisciplinary approach is used, based on both experimental and clinical studies, to stimulate the development of both lifestyle and pharmacological interventions.
The research programmes that address these topics are:
Theme 3: Mechanisms of ageing and age-related diseases
This theme focuses on…
