Educational simulation how to apply Smartpilot(R) View during a classical anaesthesia case

Description

This video might be of interest to anesthesiologists worldwide, who aim to improve the balance between volatile agents, propofol, opioids and N2O, using the intuitive advisory screen SmartPilot(TM) View. (Dräger,Lübeck, Germany). This FDA approved device may also serve as an alternative titration solution for those colleagues who do not have target controlled infusion pumps available (Go USA Go!?)

I crafted a 4 min educational video using SmartPilot (TM) View trainer software and Microsoft clipchamp to show how a classical case of anesthesia may present. How one can add manual boluses and continuous infusions of different drugs and how you could use the interaction models to guide your dose adjustments.

Be aware that some of the imput in the SmartPilot(TM) View is done automatically if infusion pumps and a ventilator are communicating with the SmartPilot(TM) View. That reduces the workload significantly for calculating the output of the combined pharmacokinetic-dynamic and drug-interaction models.

I appreciate your feedback and questions.

Glossary: PTOL: Probability of tolerance of laryngoscopy; PTOSS: Probability of tolerance of shake and shout; NSRI: Noxious Stimulation Response Index; CeREMI eq: The effect-site concentration of remifentanil equivalents. (All opioids are presented as remifentanil equivalents in the X axes)
