This-worldly afterlives: On the religious, biosocial and ecological sustainability of the deceased

    During this seminar, we will explore how the global turn to social and ecological sustainability is impacting on people’s lived afterlife beliefs, that is: their understanding of and engagements with the continuance of the deceased. I will argue that we observe a transition from otherworldly to thisworldly engagements, and illustrate how people sustain their deceased in religious, biosocial and ecological ways.
